Sorrento, Pompeii and Positano - Local Tour

Sorrento from Syrentum, the land of the sirens, is a common symbol of Campania tourism and a pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Loved by patricians and Romans for the beauty of the sea, it has been an unforgettable film location and represents a timeless enchantment. Homeland of Torquato Tasso, city of gardens, the smells and colors of Sorrento are the undisputed masters of each alley, while the cliffs and rocky ridges are the custodians of a thousand-year history. Sorrento is a succession of events, manifestations, folklore, traditions, cuisine with land and sea products such as fiordilatte, provolone del Monaco, fresh fish, limoncello, walnuts, PDO olive oil. Terraced crops produce citrus fruits, oranges, and lemons from which the famous limoncello is obtained. A lot of things to visit: the seaside village of Marina Grande, the 14th century Cloister of San Francesco, an oasis of serenity in the heart of the city, the 9th century Cathedral with a Baroque interior, and the craft shops where the mastery in the processing of the wood, with Sorrento inlay and intaglio works of art. Positano is the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, the vertical city embedded in the rock, where stairs replace the streets between the wild scent of the Mediterranean scrub. Seen from Positano beach it looks like a pyramid of houses that climb to the sky. Positano is legend, history and enchanting beauty, which kidnaps anyone who passes through here. Off Positano the three islets that make up the famous Li Galli island are visible. Pompeii, city of the Roman Empire, was founded in the 6th century BC. and destroyed together with Herculaneum, Oplonti and Stabia, during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD. Buried under several meters of volcanic sediment, preserved from bad weather and looting, the city fell into oblivion for fifteen centuries. The state of conservation of the ancient Roman city is however remarkable and the excavations undertaken since the 18th century will bring to light a thriving city, a precious testimony of the urban planning and civilization of ancient Rome. The archaeological site has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1997, together with Herculaneum.
